TIME FRAME: The written presentations have to be done before the end of week 40. This will give you 3 lessons to work on your specific topic + “ home work time” (about 2 weeks). We will meet in the class room and I will be available for questions, information, etc... (except week 39 when you have PA days – “Project Working Days). The written presentation has to be with me latest Thursday in class 1/10 (week 40)! If you for some reason can’t come to class - send it by e-mail to: macgregorishistory@gmail.com I will look at the time and date and make sure it has arrived before the deadline 11.20 – Thursday 1/10 2009 (this is the time this class ends).

WRITTEN PRESENTATION: This way of presenting is a bit in-depth. You will produce a written paper (max 4 pages) that covers your topic. Your written presentation should include a timeline on top of the first page, the most obvious events as well as some famous persons, and a bibliography. If you want to get a higher grade you also need to make sure that you use a few other sources (preferably books – not “net-sources”) and that you show a discussion around one of the most important points/events. Just to make sure that everybody will be able to receive information about the periods you also have to produce a one page summary of your topic. This summary will be printed to everybody and we will go through that information in class.

GRADING AND EVALUATION: When you write a written presentation the following parts will be evaluated:
1. Content – Have you chosen the important events and characters of the given period?
2. Timeline – All papers should include a timeline so we know what period we talk about. All major events of your period should be on the time-line as well as the more important individuals
3. In-depth – You can write up to 4 A4 pages about your topic. Make sure you try to cover as much as possible (with other words use the four pages well)
4. Structure – Since you have more space it’s important that you have a good structure. It should include an introduction, main body that includes the important events/characters, etc… and in the end a short summary. You should also have a bibliography
5. Analytical – A written presentation could and should be more analytical. Make sure you discuss some significant event and come with some conclusions about the whole period
6. Fluency – You have time to check your language. Make sure that you do that…
7. Information paper – Make a summary on one separate page. This summary should include the period you go through, the specific events of importance, the most famous persons, the event you decided to analyze and a conclusion of your topic

GRADES:
G: WRITTEN PRESENTATION: The student has used the course literature and basically just relates to what has been written in this book even though the text been adjusted. There is some sign of an attempt to organize the material but it’s not completely clear. The presentation form is OK but more effort could have been done to make it more interesting. No extra effort has been made to point out interesting historical questions and/or different interpretations of certain events. The work is narrative without any real reflections. The bibliography is incomplete or non-existent. The information paper summaries the most important events/persons but it’s still short without any real in-depth knowledge.
VG: WRITTEN PRESENTATION: The student has used more than just the course literature which is detectable in the text. The organization of the work is in general good. It has an introduction, a main body and a conclusion. Some efforts have been made to point out interesting historical questions and/or different interpretations of certain events. The student also shows that he/she can reflect a bit on the period as well as describe the general development (narrative description). The bibliography is complete. There is an attempt to organize the sources. The information paper summaries the most important events/persons in a structured way and it reveal some in-depth knowledge.

MVG: WRITTEN PRESENTATION: The student has used several different sources which is clearly visible in the work. The organization of the presentation is good and it shows creativity as well as deeper knowledge. It has a clear introduction, a main body and a conclusion. Lots of effort has been made to show the interesting historical questions and the student present different interpretations where it’s possible. The written text shows a good ability to reflect on different events and changes – it’s more analytical. The work done reveals a substantial effort and reveals great knowledge. The bibliography is complete and in alphabetic order. If necessary you have divided different kinds of sources. The information paper summaries the all important events/persons in a clear and structured way and it reveal real in-depth knowledge.
