HISTORY OF EUROPE
As a European IB History teacher I (of course) focused on History of Europe as our Higher Level regional option. Paper Three gives 35% of the final grade for HL (Higher Level). Out of the 18 sections available I have concentrated most effort on these three sections:
13: Europe and the First World War (1871–1918)
14: European states in the inter-war years (1918–1939)
15: Versailles to Berlin: Diplomacy in Europe (1919–1945)
but other sections that can be included are:
11: Italy (1815–1871) and Germany (1815–1890)
12: Imperial Russia, revolution and the establishment of the Soviet Union (1855–1924)
16: The Soviet Union and post-Soviet Russia (1924–2000)
Here these sections are explained a bit more in detail: PAPER THREE Syllabus explanation on what to study
Markscheme for Paper Three: PAPER 3 MARKSCHEME 2017
TUTOR COMMENT: This paper also focuses on the ability to write history essays. Paper Three has a time limit of 150 minutes. During this time you should be able to write three full essays. Each section has two questions so you can choose two questions from the same section and then one from any other section. In the tutoring session you will be given some samples and learn to organize three essay answers and be able to write them within the time limit. This paper gives you the most marks (35% of your final grade).
